Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong family resort where the pools impress more consistently than the extras justify themselves. a sprawling upscale 4-star resort with a waterpark and convention facilities, scored for what it is.

JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes is a sprawling upscale 4-star resort that makes most sense when you’ll actually spend time on the property. The lazy river, three waterslides and landscaped grounds are the main draw, backed by golf, several restaurants and access to the neighboring Ritz-Carlton spa. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms and welcoming staff. We’d pick it for a family holiday with proper pool days, rather than simply somewhere to sleep between parks.

The trade-offs are scale and extras. Busy-period guests describe competition for loungers and waits for food, although service feedback is strongly positive overall. A daily resort fee, separate parking charges and paid breakfast weaken the value if you barely use the facilities. You’ll need transportation for park visits; confirm shuttle arrangements directly. Skip it if you want intimate luxury or a quiet, adults-focused pool scene.

• Best for: families planning pool days; golf and resort-focused breaks; conference travelers bringing family

• Watch out for: resort fee and separate parking charges; peak-period pool crowds and dining waits; transportation needed for theme parks

• Location: A self-contained lakeside estate near SeaWorld; plan transportation rather than walking to attractions.

• Rooms: Recent guests generally describe spacious, modern rooms; views vary by room category.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Tripadvisor and Expedia feedback.

• Service: Welcoming staff earn frequent praise, with some busy-period reports of slow food service.

• Amenities: Lazy river, three waterslides, golf, gym and multiple dining venues; spa at the neighboring Ritz-Carlton.

• Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee, paid parking and breakfast; confirm shuttle coverage. Meeting-space renovations are reported complete.
