Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong downtown choice for shows and city weekends, less convincing for quiet escapes. an art-filled upscale hotel in downtown Orlando, scored for what it is.

This art-filled upscale hotel—formerly Grand Bohemian Orlando, now Hotel Beauden—is a strong pick for downtown Orlando rather than a theme-park vacation. Its biggest advantage is being walkable to the Dr. Phillips Center and Kia Center. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise comfortable, spacious rooms, cleanliness and welcoming staff. Distinctive interiors, dining and the Altira rooftop pool give it more personality than a standard business hotel.

The trade-off is that the lively atmosphere can follow you upstairs: recent guests mention pool-lounge bass and street noise. Tripadvisor guests also report occasional pool-access restrictions and uneven service, although the overall feedback remains strongly positive. Valet parking costs extra. We'd choose it for a concert, business trip or sociable weekend; light sleepers should request a room away from Altira, and anyone planning pool time should confirm event restrictions.

• Best for: theater and concert weekends; downtown business travelers; couples who enjoy lively hotels

• Watch out for: pool-lounge music and street noise; occasional pool-access restrictions; paid valet parking

• Location: Walkable to the Dr. Phillips Center, Kia Center and downtown restaurants; not a theme-park base.

• Rooms: Guests commonly praise spacious rooms and comfortable beds; request a room away from the pool lounge.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent guest feedback, with particularly strong Expedia cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Mostly welcoming and helpful, with some reports of slow service and inconsistent problem handling.

• Amenities: Altira outdoor rooftop pool, fitness center, dining and live piano programming; poolside events keep things lively.

• Fees and surprises: Now branded Hotel Beauden; valet parking is charged separately, and pool access may be restricted for events.
