#9 of 9 hotels in Old Town & Highway 192 by Axel's take. Old Town & Highway 192 is #8 of 12 places to stay in Orlando. The best hotels in Old Town & Highway 192, ranked · Where to stay in Orlando

Axel's take: 7.2/10

A spacious family base, but confirm the exact listing and conditions before booking. A privately rented three-bedroom condo at Runaway Beach Club, not a conventional hotel, scored for what it is.

Calypso Villa is a self-catering condo at Runaway Beach Club, rather than a full-service 3-star hotel. Same-address listings advertise three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a loft, a kitchen and laundry—useful space for families driving to Orlando’s parks. Expedia’s small set of 2022–2023 reviews praises the roominess, comfortable beds and location; a Booking.com review surfaced by Google from August 2025 also praises the location. It looks practical, but recent unit-specific evidence is limited.

The main catches are stairs, limited service and inconsistent listing information. Hotels.com lists no elevator or housekeeping, plus mandatory cleaning and resort fees; Expedia specifies that air-conditioning cannot be set below 74°F. Two older guests mention weak shower pressure. The supplied website belongs to Calypso Cay Resort, not this condo’s listing. We’d consider it for a self-sufficient family, but skip it for step-free access or hotel-style support.

  • Best for: Families traveling with a car; Groups wanting a kitchen and laundry

  • Watch out for: Stairs and no elevator; Cleaning and resort fees listed; Sparse recent reviews and conflicting listings

  • Location: A Kissimmee base for driving to the parks, rather than a walkable Orlando city stay.

  • Rooms: Same-address listings describe three bedrooms plus a loft; Expedia specifies a 74°F minimum AC setting.

  • Cleanliness: Older Expedia reviews are positive, but Hotels.com has a serious complaint from November 2021; current consistency is unproven.

  • Service: Hotels.com lists no housekeeping; confirm arrival instructions and support arrangements with the current manager.

  • Amenities: Listings advertise shared pools, a gym, kitchen and laundry; confirm exactly which facilities your reservation includes.

  • Fees and surprises: Hotels.com lists free parking, mandatory cleaning and resort fees, and 10 a.m. checkout.
