Old-school New Orleans grandeur with standout hospitality, though rooms don't all match the lobby.
The Roosevelt is a historic 5-star beside the French Quarter, and we'd choose it for traditional New Orleans luxury rather than contemporary design. The grand lobby and Sazerac Bar give it real character, while the rooftop pool, spa and restaurants make it more than a sightseeing base. Recent Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms.
The main caveat is that the bedrooms don't impress everyone equally: some guests describe dated finishes or smaller rooms, and even suites can have compact bathrooms. Those are meaningful compromises at Waldorf Astoria level, although the overwhelmingly positive feedback suggests they don't define most stays. Valet parking costs extra, and the hotel warns of a restocking charge if you empty the minibar for personal use.
