Axel's take: 8.0/10

A comfortable airport base, but not the freshest five-star experience. a traditional five-star business hotel near Mumbai’s international airport, scored for what it is.

The LaLiT Mumbai is a traditional five-star airport hotel: a strong pick for a flight connection or business stop rather than a sightseeing holiday. Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise spacious, clean rooms and helpful staff, while recent Expedia reviews reinforce those strengths. The outdoor pool, spa and gym give it more substance than a place to sleep between flights.

The reservation is its age. Several recent guests describe dated interiors and maintenance niggles, and service can be less consistent when requests or problems need resolving. Dining draws mixed value judgments, too. Airport transfers generally cost extra unless your package includes them. We'd choose it for room space and airport convenience; we'd skip it for a polished luxury occasion or a trip centered on South Mumbai.

• Best for: International-airport stopovers; Business travelers; Travelers who prioritize spacious rooms

• Watch out for: Dated interiors and occasional maintenance niggles; Uneven response to service requests; Airport transfers usually cost extra

• Location: Convenient for the international terminal; less practical for a South Mumbai sightseeing trip.

• Rooms: Generously sized and generally comfortable, but recurring reviews describe aging decor.

• Cleanliness: A clear overall strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Friendly staff receive frequent praise, though follow-through can be inconsistent.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, spa, gym and dining; Expedia lists a New Year's Eve pool closure.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast and transfer inclusions; early check-in and late checkout can incur charges.
