Axel's take: 4.9/10

Convenient for Powai, but recurring hygiene and maintenance complaints make this a risky choice. a basic budget guesthouse on the fifth floor of a mixed-use building, scored for what it is.

Oxford Hotel Powai is a basic budget guesthouse occupying the fifth floor of Oxford Chamber, rather than a conventional standalone hotel. Its Saki Vihar Road location suits nearby work trips, and some guests praise helpful staff and comfortable, inexpensive stays. But we'd look elsewhere: the small, favorable Tripadvisor sample contrasts sharply with weaker Booking.com and MakeMyTrip ratings and repeated complaints in 2026.

The concerns go beyond tired décor. Guests on MakeMyTrip, Trip.com and ixigo describe dirty or musty rooms, cramped layouts and an unwelcoming building; several recent accounts also report rodents or problems securing room doors. Other guests report clean rooms, so conditions appear inconsistent rather than universally poor. Even for a simple budget stay, that's too much uncertainty around the basics. We'd skip it for families, anyone uneasy arriving alone, or travelers who need dependable cleanliness and maintenance.

• Best for: Short work trips near Powai; Budget travelers able to inspect before committing

• Watch out for: Recurring hygiene complaints and rodent reports; Cramped rooms and worn building; Restrictive guest and ID policies

• Location: Useful for Powai-area work; guests repeatedly criticize the entrance and surrounding building.

• Rooms: Often described as small; recent complaints include odors, poor ventilation and door-security problems.

• Cleanliness: Some positive reports, but repeated recent complaints about dirty rooms, linen and rodents are concerning.

• Service: Helpful staff receive praise, though reception and problem handling are inconsistent.

• Amenities: Listings advertise Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, a lift and room service; guests report unreliable hot water and AC.

• Fees and surprises: MakeMyTrip excludes unmarried couples, local IDs and all-male groups; parking is disputed, so confirm directly.
