Axel's take: 8.1/10

A stylish west-side base with comfortable rooms, but extras and service deserve scrutiny. a modern, full-service 4-star beside Mayfair Mall, scored for what it is.

This modern, full-service 4-star in Wauwatosa is a strong pick for west-side business, family visits and shopping—not a downtown Milwaukee getaway. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and good showers, while Eldr+Rime gives you a restaurant worth considering without leaving the building. We'd choose it for a comfortable suburban stay with more personality than a basic chain hotel.

The experience is less uniformly polished than the design suggests: Tripadvisor feedback is more mixed on service and upkeep, and thermostat problems appear on both Tripadvisor and Kayak. Parking and breakfast cost extra, and Marriott only promises complimentary room Wi-Fi to Bonvoy members booking direct. There is no pool. We'd skip it for a swimming-focused family trip or sightseeing where you want downtown attractions outside your door.

• Best for: west-side business travelers; shopping weekends; family visits in Wauwatosa

• Watch out for: parking and breakfast charges; some reports of thermostat problems; no pool; outside downtown

• Location: Beside Mayfair Mall, with shopping and dining nearby; downtown sightseeing requires transportation.

• Rooms: Modern, generally spacious and comfortable; temperature-control complaints recur across two sites.

• Cleanliness: Strong recent Expedia feedback outweighs scattered housekeeping complaints elsewhere.

• Service: Often praised as friendly and helpful, but less consistent in Tripadvisor reports.

• Amenities: Eldr+Rime restaurant, bars, fitness center and event spaces; no swimming pool.

• Fees and surprises: Paid parking and breakfast; complimentary in-room Wi-Fi is conditional on membership and direct booking.
