Axel's take: 4.8/10

Convenient highway access cannot make up for unreliable cleaning and worn-out rooms. a no-frills 2-star motel off I-43, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star motel in Glendale has useful basics: free parking, pet-friendly rooms and easy access to I-43, Bayshore shopping and nearby restaurants. But we'd look elsewhere unless location and a tight budget leave few alternatives. Booking.com and Tripadvisor ratings are poor overall; Expedia is more forgiving, with several recent guests praising helpful staff and clean rooms.

The problem is consistency on things even a budget motel should get right. Across recent Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews, dirty floors, lingering smoke smells and damaged or poorly maintained rooms recur. Some guests also report nighttime disturbances, while others describe quiet stays. This is more than a shortage of extras. We'd skip it for families, light sleepers and anyone sensitive to smoke; convenience alone does not make it dependable.

• Best for: budget travelers prioritizing highway access; pet owners needing a short stop

• Watch out for: inconsistent cleaning and room maintenance; smoke odors despite a smoke-free policy; occasional nighttime disturbances

• Location: Handy for I-43, Bayshore shopping and restaurants; better suited to drivers than downtown sightseeing on foot.

• Rooms: Basic rooms draw repeated complaints about worn beds, damaged fixtures and leaking air conditioners.

• Cleanliness: Some recent guests report clean rooms, but dirty floors and poorly kept common areas recur across sites.

• Service: Helpful front-desk staff earn substantial praise, though check-in and problem handling are inconsistent.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi and parking, lobby coffee, coin laundry and a 24-hour desk; confirm refrigerator and microwave availability.

• Fees and surprises: An incidental deposit may be required; the advertised smoke-free policy does not reliably prevent smoke odors.
