Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong South Beach hostel for meeting people, less convincing for quiet nights. a social design hostel with dorms and private rooms in South Beach, scored for what it is.

Viajero Miami is a colorful design hostel, not a conventional four-star hotel. We'd pick it for a sociable South Beach stay: the beach and Ocean Drive are close, and the pool, bar and organized activities make meeting people easy. Recent Expedia and Hostelworld guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, convenient location and generally clean, comfortable accommodation. Private ensuite rooms offer an alternative to dorms without losing the hostel atmosphere.

The trade-off is sleep: street noise and sound from other guests recur in reviews, so a private room doesn't guarantee peace. Some recent feedback also points to cleaning details and tired common areas rather than consistently polished surroundings. Factor in the mandatory resort fee, security deposit and breakfast extra, and note the property's 21-plus policy. We'd skip it for a restful couples' retreat; it's much better suited to outgoing travelers who want company between beach trips.

• Best for: solo travelers aged 21 and over; beach-and-nightlife trips; travelers seeking organized social activities

• Watch out for: street and guest noise; mandatory resort fee and security deposit; 21-plus guest policy

• Location: Walkable South Beach base near the beach, Ocean Drive, restaurants and nightlife.

• Rooms: Shared dorms and private ensuite rooms; comfort earns praise, but sound isolation varies.

• Cleanliness: Generally well rated, with some recent criticism of overlooked bathroom details and hallway upkeep.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across recent guest feedback.

• Amenities: Pool, bar, coworking areas and organized social events; breakfast is not included as standard.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory resort fee varies by accommodation type; a security deposit applies and guests must be 21-plus.
