Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong beachfront luxury pick, with standout pools and occasional service lapses. a design-led 5-star beachfront resort in Mid-Beach, scored for what it is.

The Miami Beach EDITION is a design-led 5-star beachfront resort that gets the big things right: attractive pools, direct beach access and a polished setting for a Miami escape. We'd pick it for a stay built around swimming, dining and spending time at the hotel. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise cleanliness and comfort, while recent Expedia reviews are especially enthusiastic about the staff. Two pools, Jean-Georges dining, a spa, bowling and ice-skating give it more substance than looks alone.

The reservation is consistency at luxury expectations. Tripadvisor guests describe occasional service delays, despite the broadly positive picture, and value is a weaker point on Booking.com. Expect a nightly resort fee, paid valet parking and expensive food. We'd skip it if seamless service and restrained incidental spending matter more than design and beachfront amenities.

• Best for: couples planning a luxury beach break; design-conscious travelers; pool-and-dining-focused stays

• Watch out for: nightly resort fee and paid valet; expensive food and drinks; occasional service delays

• Location: Direct beach and boardwalk access at 29th Street, north of South Beach's busiest blocks.

• Rooms: Understated coastal design; comfort scores strongly, with city, pool or ocean views depending on category.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com ratings and recent Expedia guest reviews.

• Service: Staff receive abundant praise, but Tripadvisor reports show occasional delays and uneven follow-through.

• Amenities: Two outdoor pools, beach service, spa, gym, destination dining, bowling and ice-skating.

• Fees and surprises: Nightly resort fee, incidental deposit and paid valet; breakfast costs extra, and Booking.com excludes beach umbrellas from resort-fee inclusions.
