A strong airport stopover, but the pool closure limits its appeal. a renovated 4-star airport hotel built for short stays, scored for what it is.

Sonesta Miami Airport is a renovated 4-star airport hotel, and we'd choose it for a comfortable stopover rather than a Miami vacation. Recent Expedia and Hotels.com guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. The complimentary airport shuttle and on-site restaurant make late arrivals and early departures easier, while the renovation gives it a fresher feel than older reviews might suggest.

The big catch is the outdoor pool: Expedia lists it as unavailable through November 30, 2026, and recent guests confirm construction, despite Sonesta's website still promoting it. Parking and breakfast generally cost extra, and the hotel says short-stay housekeeping is limited, with light service available on request. It's a strong pick before a flight or cruise; we'd skip it for pool time, beach access or a sightseeing-focused stay.

• Best for: overnight airport stopovers; pre-cruise stays; short business trips

• Watch out for: pool closed through November 30, 2026; dates may change; parking and breakfast generally cost extra; limited short-stay housekeeping

• Location: Convenient for Miami International Airport, but not a beach or central sightseeing base.

• Rooms: Renovated rooms draw praise for comfortable beds; mini-fridges and coffee makers are included.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent guest feedback across Expedia and Hotels.com.

• Service: Recent guests frequently praise friendly, helpful staff and straightforward check-in.

• Amenities: Free airport shuttle, restaurant and gym; the outdoor pool is currently closed.

• Fees and surprises: Paid parking, usually paid breakfast, an incidental deposit and a separate charge for the cruise-port shuttle.
