Axel's take: 8.4/10

A comfortable Coral Gables base with walkable dining, spacious rooms and some aging edges. A Mediterranean-style 4-star business hotel in downtown Coral Gables, scored for what it is.

This Mediterranean-style 4-star is a strong pick for travelers who want Coral Gables restaurants on foot rather than a Miami beach scene. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff, with cleanliness a particular strength in recent Expedia feedback. The fifth-floor heated pool, hot tub and round-the-clock gym give it appeal beyond business trips.

The main compromise is polish: several guests on both sites describe dated furnishings or bathrooms, even while others find their rooms comfortable and well maintained. Service wins more praise than criticism, but occasional check-in and housekeeping lapses keep this from being seamless. Factor in the daily destination fee and paid parking. We'd choose it for a walkable city stay, but skip it for beachfront relaxation or consistently fresh, high-end interiors.

• Best for: Business travelers; Couples who prioritize walkable dining; Families wanting spacious rooms and a pool

• Watch out for: Daily destination fee and paid parking; Some dated furnishings and bathrooms; Not a beachfront hotel

• Location: Near Giralda Plaza and two blocks from Miracle Mile, with numerous restaurants within walking distance.

• Rooms: Spacious and generally comfortable; recent guests disagree on how fresh the furnishings and bathrooms feel.

• Cleanliness: A strong overall signal, including excellent recent Expedia feedback.

• Service: Usually friendly and helpful, with occasional reports of slow check-in or housekeeping follow-through.

• Amenities: Heated outdoor pool, hot tub, 24-hour gym, restaurants, bar and a 24-hour market.

• Fees and surprises: Daily destination fee; self-parking, valet and breakfast generally cost extra; no hotel shuttle.
