Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong apartment-style base for South Beach, provided beachfront access isn’t your priority. A mid-range all-suite apartment hotel on South Beach’s quieter west side, scored for what it is.

ABAE is a mid-range all-suite apartment hotel, not a full-service beach resort. It’s a strong pick for travelers who prefer useful space and everyday convenience to a busy beachfront address. Kitchenettes, separate living areas and in-room washer-dryers make longer stays easier, while the rooftop pool adds a welcome place to unwind. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean suites, helpful reception staff and the quieter residential setting near restaurants and groceries.

The main compromise is distance: allow roughly 15–20 minutes to walk to the ocean. Kitchenettes suit light meals better than ambitious cooking, and the mandatory daily hotel fee plus paid valet dilute the value. We’d choose it for an independent, apartment-style stay; skip it if you want sand outside the door or extensive resort services.

• Best for: Longer stays with apartment conveniences; Couples wanting a quieter South Beach base; Families who value separate living space

• Watch out for: Roughly 15–20 minutes’ walk to the beach; Mandatory daily hotel fee and paid valet; Kitchenettes rather than full cooking facilities

• Location: Residential West Avenue setting, convenient for restaurants and groceries but not beachfront.

• Rooms: Spacious apartment-style suites with living areas, kitchenettes and washer-dryers; balcony layouts vary.

• Cleanliness: Broadly strong feedback across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor reviews.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming reception staff are a consistent strength in recent guest feedback.

• Amenities: Rooftop pool and sundeck, in-suite laundry and an adjoining Joe & The Juice café.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory daily hotel fee, separately charged valet parking and an incidental deposit.
