Axel's take: 7.1/10

Convention convenience and friendly staff outweigh some wear, but don’t expect four-star polish. An aging, full-service downtown convention hotel, formerly the Sheraton, scored for what it is.

Memphis Riverline is an aging, full-service convention hotel rather than a polished four-star escape. Its strongest selling point is the enclosed connection to Renasant Convention Center. We'd consider it for a conference: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, while many describe clean, comfortable rooms and worthwhile river views. The Sheraton name has gone, but the older furnishings haven't all followed.

The trade-offs are dated bathrooms, recurring maintenance complaints and limited restaurant and bar hours. Major renovations are underway, with work expected to extend into 2028; confirm what will affect your dates. Don't count on a pool: recent guests report none available, and Marriott no longer lists one. Parking and breakfast cost extra. We'd skip it for a pool-centered family trip or a stay where upscale finish matters more than convention access.

• Best for: Renasant Convention Center attendees; Business travelers prioritizing convenience; Travelers seeking river-view rooms

• Watch out for: Renovations extending into 2028; Dated rooms and maintenance inconsistencies; No dependable pool access; limited dining hours

• Location: Direct convention-center skywalk; Beale Street is roughly a mile away, not immediately outside.

• Rooms: Often comfortable and spacious, with some river views, but furnishings and bathrooms show wear.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised across major sites, though housekeeping misses appear in some recent reviews.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the most consistent positive across Tripadvisor and Expedia.

• Amenities: Marriott lists a gym and restaurant; verify opening hours and disregard older pool descriptions.

• Fees and surprises: Parking, breakfast and pets cost extra; confirm renovation impacts and current facility availability.
