Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong airport stopover with welcoming staff and more amenities than the basics. a practical mid-range airport hotel, not a beach resort, scored for what it is.

Courtyard Maui Kahului Airport is a practical mid-range hotel, not the beachfront four-star escape its catalog might suggest. It's a strong pick for a late arrival, early departure or work trip. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms and welcoming staff; Booking.com feedback agrees. The free 24-hour airport shuttle makes short stays easier, while the outdoor pool, hot tub and fire pit give you somewhere pleasant to unwind.

The trade-off is the setting: airport-side Kahului, with Costco and food trucks nearby rather than a resort beach outside. Breakfast and parking normally cost extra, though Marriott confirms there is no resort fee. Some guests hear aircraft or early-morning roosters, so light sleepers should take precautions. We'd choose it for convenience and dependable comfort, but skip it for a beach-focused vacation.

• Best for: late arrivals and early departures; business travelers; families starting or ending a Maui trip

• Watch out for: not beachfront; breakfast and parking usually extra; possible aircraft and rooster noise

• Location: Minutes from Kahului Airport, with Costco and food trucks nearby; a car helps for wider exploring.

• Rooms: Comfortable, practical rooms; Marriott confirms microwaves and mini-fridges in every room.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across sites, including recent Expedia guests.

• Service: Friendly, efficient staff and the airport shuttle attract consistent praise.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, hot tub, fire pit, 24-hour gym, Bistro and guest laundry.

• Fees and surprises: No resort fee; parking and breakfast normally extra, with housekeeping every other day.
