The Edgar is a straightforward 3-star on Edgartown’s commercial Upper Main Street, better suited to exploring the island than lingering at a resort. Recent Expedia and Google guests repeatedly praise clean, roomy accommodations and comfortable beds. Free parking, a supermarket next door and attached Town Bar & Grill make it a practical base. The hotel describes its rooms as refurbished, and recent feedback generally supports that.
The trade-offs are location and limited extras: downtown is roughly a 15–20-minute walk, there’s no pool or included continental breakfast, and upper floors require stairs. Bar noise can affect nearby rooms; management specifically acknowledged room 201’s proximity to the sound system. Staff earn plenty of praise, though problem handling is uneven. We’d skip it for a waterfront holiday or if quiet sleep is nonnegotiable.
