Axel's take: 8.1/10

A solid budget base with roomy accommodation, but a virtual front desk. a no-frills 2-star hotel in east Glendale, scored for what it is.

Glendale Hotel is a no-frills 2-star that delivers well on the budget basics: spacious rooms, generally good cleanliness and useful extras rather than full-service hospitality. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the clean rooms, comfortable beds and convenient location; complimentary lobby coffee and flavored water also earn enthusiastic mentions. We'd shortlist it for a practical Glendale stay, especially with a car.

The main compromise is reception by video kiosk, not a conventional staffed desk. Many guests find it efficient and friendly, but travelers wanting hands-on assistance should look elsewhere. Some Tripadvisor guests describe worn furnishings despite the hotel's renovation claims, and its website still mentions ongoing improvements without a completion date. Parking costs extra, a damage deposit is required, and we'd skip it if polished interiors or traditional service matter more than space and value.

• Best for: budget-conscious couples; drivers exploring Glendale and nearby LA; travelers comfortable with virtual check-in

• Watch out for: video-kiosk reception; paid parking and damage deposit; some worn interiors; ongoing improvements advertised

• Location: East Glendale, with food and everyday shopping nearby; a car is useful for wider sightseeing.

• Rooms: Generously sized for the class, with refrigerators and microwaves in listed room types; some guests report dated furnishings.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com and Expedia, though individual negative reports exist.

• Service: Virtual agents often receive praise, but video reception will not suit guests seeking an on-site front desk.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, round-the-clock lobby coffee and water, an elevator and accessible room options.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is charged and a damage deposit applies; the website mentions ongoing improvements without specifying scope or dates.
