#3 of 7 hotels in Downtown by Axel's take. Downtown is #1 of 6 places to stay in Lexington, Kentucky. The best hotels in Downtown, ranked · Where to stay in Lexington, Kentucky

Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong downtown pick for comfort and convenience, with street noise the main compromise. an upscale, full-service hotel in downtown Lexington, scored for what it is.

Lexington Marriott City Center is an upscale, full-service downtown hotel, not the basic two-star its catalog listing suggests. We'd put it high on the list for Rupp Arena events, business trips and restaurant-focused weekends. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests consistently praise clean, comfortable rooms, roomy bathrooms and helpful staff. The walkable location is its biggest advantage; Infinity's rooftop dining and the seasonal outdoor pool give it more appeal than a straightforward business hotel.

The main compromise is sleep: traffic and loud motorcycles recur in guest feedback, including otherwise positive stays. Light sleepers should request a quieter room, though that isn't a guarantee. Parking and breakfast cost extra, and complimentary room Wi-Fi has booking conditions. We'd skip it if silence or year-round swimming matters more than being downtown.

  • Best for: Rupp Arena eventgoers; downtown dining weekends; business travelers

  • Watch out for: Recurring nighttime street noise; Parking and breakfast cost extra; Outdoor pool is seasonal

  • Location: Central, walkable base for downtown restaurants, Rupp Arena and convention events.

  • Rooms: Modern, comfortable rooms and spacious bathrooms earn praise; street noise can intrude.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews.

  • Service: Guests repeatedly praise friendly, helpful staff and efficient check-in.

  • Amenities: Infinity rooftop restaurant and bar, fitness center and seasonal outdoor pool; not an indoor-pool hotel.

  • Fees and surprises: Paid self-parking and valet; breakfast generally extra. Marriott guarantees free room Wi-Fi for Bonvoy members booking direct.
