#5 of 7 hotels in Ski Run by Axel's take. Ski Run is #3 of 6 places to stay in Lake Tahoe. The best hotels in Ski Run, ranked · Where to stay in Lake Tahoe

Axel's take: 7.6/10

Practical lakeside suites, but parking hassles and sales pitches take the shine off. A mid-range, condo-style vacation-club resort beside Ski Run Marina, scored for what it is.

This mid-range, condo-style vacation-club resort is a good pick for families who want cooking facilities and easy access to the lake. Studios have kitchenettes; one- and two-bedroom suites add full kitchens and separate living rooms. Recent Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise clean accommodation, comfortable beds and the location near restaurants and groceries. Pools, hot tubs and a games area give families useful downtime options.

The compromises are less appealing: paid valet-only parking draws recurring complaints about waits, and resort charges and timeshare pitches frustrate guests across sites. Some rooms feel tired, and service gets mixed reports despite plenty of staff praise. Selected guestrooms are undergoing renovation from September 8 through November 20, 2026, with possible daytime noise; confirm the schedule before booking. We'd skip it for a quiet, fuss-free hotel break, but consider it for a self-catering family stay.

Best for: Families wanting kitchens and separate living space; Longer, self-catering Tahoe stays; Travelers prioritizing lake access
Watch out for: Guestroom renovations and possible daytime noise through November 20, 2026; Paid valet-only parking, recurring waits and a resort charge; Timeshare sales pitches
Location: Beside Ski Run Marina, with restaurants and groceries nearby; not ski-in/ski-out.
Rooms: Studios have kitchenettes; larger suites have full kitchens and living rooms, though some guests find furnishings tired.
Cleanliness: Generally a strength across recent guest feedback, despite occasional housekeeping complaints.
Service: Many guests praise helpful staff, but problem handling and valet speed are inconsistent.
Amenities: Indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, sauna, gym, games area, barbecue grills and a restaurant.
Fees and surprises: Daily resort charge, paid valet-only parking and 10 a.m. checkout; confirm renovation dates and housekeeping arrangements.
