Axel's take: 9.2/10
Excellent service and modern comforts make MET worth the distance from downtown. An upscale design-led boutique hotel in Calacoto, scored for what it is.
MET is an upscale, design-led boutique hotel in Calacoto, and a strong pick if comfort matters more than staying downtown. Recent Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the attentive staff, comfortable beds, cleanliness and breakfast. Contemporary Bolivian art gives it personality, while the indoor pool, spa and well-equipped gym make it more than somewhere to sleep.
The main compromise is geography: Zona Sur has restaurants and cafes, but exploring central La Paz means taxis or a cable-car journey. Booking.com guests describe roughly a 15–20-minute walk to Irpavi station. A few recent guests report room-equipment or shower-design niggles, rather than a broad maintenance problem. We'd choose it for a comfortable, service-focused base; we'd skip it for sightseeing entirely on foot.
