#8 of 9 hotels in Chow Kit & Jalan TAR by Axel's take. Chow Kit & Jalan TAR is #5 of 6 places to stay in Kuala Lumpur. The best hotels in Chow Kit & Jalan TAR, ranked · Where to stay in Kuala Lumpur

Axel's take: 7.7/10

A practical budget base with roomy accommodation, but uneven upkeep. a no-frills budget city hotel near the monorail, scored for what it is.

Prescott is a no-frills budget city hotel whose strongest selling point is convenience: Medan Tuanku monorail, SOGO and plenty of local food are within easy walking distance. We'd pick it for an inexpensive sightseeing or shopping trip rather than a hotel-centered stay. Recent Trip.com guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; Agoda's broader guest feedback also supports its value credentials.

The trade-off is uneven upkeep. Alongside many reports of clean rooms, guests flag tired carpets and fittings, occasional housekeeping misses and inconsistent air-conditioning or hot water. Older Tripadvisor feedback also raises unreliable Wi-Fi and hallway noise. Parking is free but repeatedly described as limited, and breakfast isn't necessarily included. We'd skip it if you need polished interiors, dependable working-from-hotel conditions, or a pool and gym.

Best for: budget-conscious shoppers; sightseers using public transit; travelers prioritizing room space
Watch out for: uneven maintenance and housekeeping; limited parking spaces; variable Wi-Fi and room equipment
Location: Walkable access to Medan Tuanku monorail, SOGO and local eateries is the clearest strength.
Rooms: Many guests praise the space and beds, but fittings and climate-control performance vary.
Cleanliness: Mostly positive on Agoda and Trip.com, with enough contrary reports to warrant checking your room.
Service: Recent Trip.com guests frequently describe reception and housekeeping staff as friendly and helpful.
Amenities: Tazza Cafe, free Wi-Fi, laundry and meeting facilities; no pool or gym.
Fees and surprises: Free parking is limited; breakfast may cost extra, and Agoda lists a refundable cash security deposit.
