Axel's take: 8.3/10
Strong baths and friendly service, but Port Island means a commute into central Kobe. A design-led mid-range hotel with public baths on Port Island, scored for what it is.
This design-led mid-range hotel on Port Island is a strong pick if bathing facilities matter more than a downtown address. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, helpful staff and the public baths; Booking.com’s strongest marks also go to staff and cleanliness. Vintage-inspired interiors and a top-floor harbor-view restaurant give it more character than a basic business hotel. It makes particular sense for Port Island conferences and events.
The compromise is the industrial setting, with few nearby restaurants and a train ride into central Kobe. Entry-level doubles are compact, so choose your room category carefully. The hotel confirms that men get a high-temperature sauna while women get a steam sauna—not identical facilities. Gym access costs extra, and Expedia lists a tattoo restriction for public bathing. We’d skip it for a nightlife-focused stay or if that bathing policy rules out its main attraction.
