Axel's take: 8.8/10

A dependable downtown base with notably clean rooms and welcoming staff. a modern 3-star downtown chain hotel, scored for what it is.

This modern 3-star Courtyard is a strong pick for downtown Knoxville if you want comfort and convenience rather than boutique character. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and friendly staff, while Booking.com’s overall rating supports that positive picture. Market Square, Gay Street dining and the Tennessee Theatre are within an easy walk. The secure parking garage is another practical advantage, especially if you plan to leave the car behind while exploring.

The main trade-offs are the extras: parking costs more, and breakfast is not complimentary, despite the Residence Inn sharing the building. The Bistro serves breakfast and dinner rather than providing all-day dining; a gym and outdoor terrace round out the useful amenities. We'd skip it if included breakfast or distinctive local character matters more than a reliable, well-located stay.

• Best for: couples exploring downtown on foot; business travelers; theater and concert visitors

• Watch out for: paid parking; breakfast not included; Bistro closed between breakfast and dinner

• Location: Walkable to Market Square, Gay Street restaurants and the Tennessee Theatre.

• Rooms: Recent guests consistently praise comfortable beds and well-kept rooms.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff receive repeated praise across sites.

• Amenities: Gym, outdoor terrace, Bistro and bar; dining hours are limited.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and breakfast cost extra; Marriott explicitly says there is no EV charging.
