Axel's take: 7.8/10

Good-value space and friendly staff, but this isn't a downtown hotel. A no-frills 2-star suite hotel off I-75, north of downtown, scored for what it is.

This budget suite hotel is a solid pick for a Knoxville stopover, especially if you're driving and want room to spread out. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff and comfortable rooms, while recent Expedia reviews largely back up the cleanliness. Microwaves, refrigerators, free breakfast and free parking make it practical for families and game-day visitors who don't need a central address.

The catch is the name: downtown is about five miles away, not outside the door. The building shows its age, and several 2026 Expedia guests describe a small pool area needing better upkeep, including complaints about cloudy water and worn furniture. We'd choose it for straightforward comfort and value, not polished surroundings; skip it if walkable downtown evenings or a dependable pool experience are priorities.

• Best for: Road-trippers stopping off I-75; Budget-conscious families; Game-day visitors with a car

• Watch out for: Not actually downtown; Dated surroundings; Recurring pool-area upkeep complaints

• Location: Off I-75 near restaurants; downtown is roughly five miles away.

• Rooms: Roomy suite-style layouts with sitting areas, microwaves and refrigerators; some dated finishes.

• Cleanliness: Recent room reviews are mostly positive; pool and hot-tub upkeep draw more criticism.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are the most consistent strength across review sites.

• Amenities: Free breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking, plus an indoor pool, hot tub and fitness room.

• Fees and surprises: Pets incur an extra charge; confirm acceptance and restrictions directly with the hotel.
