Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong pick for apartment space, cleanliness and helpful staff, rather than hotel frills. A simple 2-star aparthotel in Jeddah’s Al Salamah district, scored for what it is.

Friesian is a simple 2-star aparthotel in Al Salamah, and a strong pick if you want practical living space rather than a full-service hotel. Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the spacious apartments, comfortable beds and helpful reception team; recent Expedia reviews reinforce the cleanliness and service picture. Kitchens and washing machines make it particularly useful for families and longer stays, while free parking adds everyday convenience.

The trade-offs are mostly practical. Booking.com’s Wi-Fi rating trails its stronger scores for rooms and staff, so confirm connectivity if work depends on it. Breakfast can cost extra, and housekeeping arrangements are worth checking because listings differ. We’d choose it for a comfortable, self-catering base, but skip it if you want a waterfront setting or sightseeing mainly on foot.

• Best for: Families wanting apartment space; Longer self-catering stays; Travelers with a car

• Watch out for: Wi-Fi scores below other categories; Breakfast may cost extra; Car or taxis useful for sightseeing

• Location: Al Salamah base near shops and dining; better suited to driving than sightseeing on foot.

• Rooms: Guests praise spacious layouts and comfortable beds; kitchens and washing machines support longer stays.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com feedback and recent Expedia reviews.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming reception staff are a recurring highlight across sites.

• Amenities: Free parking, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities and 24-hour reception; breakfast is available.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and extra beds can incur charges; confirm housekeeping frequency before booking.
