Axel's take: 8.1/10

A dependable Al Hamra base, with helpful staff and breakfast that divides opinion. a practical 3-star hotel in Jeddah’s Al Hamra district, scored for what it is.

Ewaa Express Al Hamra is a practical 3-star hotel that gets the important basics largely right. We'd pick it for a straightforward Jeddah stay: Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, while recent Tripadvisor reviews reinforce the welcoming reception service. Restaurants and shops are nearby, and the Corniche is within walking distance rather than directly outside. Refrigerators and kettles add everyday convenience.

The main compromises are breakfast and connectivity. Breakfast is included on the listings checked, but guest reports range from satisfying to limited and poorly replenished. Wi-Fi is a weaker point in Booking.com’s ratings and also draws a recent Tripadvisor complaint. We'd skip it if reliable in-room internet or a consistently good breakfast is essential; otherwise, it looks like a solid, good-value base.

• Best for: value-minded city visitors; short business stays; travelers wanting nearby restaurants

• Watch out for: uneven breakfast quality; inconsistent Wi-Fi; not directly on the waterfront

• Location: Al Hamra base near restaurants and shops; the Corniche requires a walk.

• Rooms: Comfortable, practical rooms with refrigerators and kettles; suites offer more space.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Helpful reception staff attract repeated praise, including from recent guests.

• Amenities: Free parking and buffet breakfast are listed; the official site also advertises a pool.

• Fees and surprises: Check that breakfast and taxes are included, and confirm actual bedding when booking for children.
