Axel's take: 7.3/10

A practical budget base with helpful staff, but noise and room quality limit its appeal. a basic budget hotel near Jakarta Kota station, scored for what it is.

Twins is a basic budget hotel near Jakarta Kota station, best treated as a simple base for exploring Kota Tua and shopping around Mangga Dua. We'd consider it for a short, inexpensive stay: recent Traveloka guests repeatedly praise friendly staff and clean rooms, while Agoda guests also rate service and value well. Air-conditioning, private bathrooms, Wi-Fi and a lift cover the essentials.

The trade-off is consistency, not a lack of luxury. Booking.com's cleanliness and comfort scores are noticeably weaker, and recent reviews on Traveloka and Trip.com describe poor soundproofing and nighttime traffic noise. Rooms can be small, and some lack windows. It's good enough for budget travelers spending most of their time out; we'd skip it for light sleepers or anyone expecting a polished three-star experience.

  • Best for: solo travelers on a budget; short stays near Jakarta Kota; Kota Tua and Mangga Dua visits

  • Watch out for: traffic noise and poor soundproofing; small rooms, some without windows; uneven cleanliness and comfort ratings

  • Location: Convenient for Jakarta Kota station, Kota Tua and Mangga Dua shopping.

  • Rooms: Simple air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms; check room size and window availability.

  • Cleanliness: Recent praise is encouraging, but ratings vary substantially between booking sites.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the most consistent strength across sources.

  • Amenities: Wi-Fi, lift, restaurant and 24-hour reception; breakfast inclusion depends on the booking.

  • Fees and surprises: Trip.com lists a refundable cash deposit; Expedia lists charges for early check-in and late checkout.
