Axel's take: 7.7/10

Useful transport connections and friendly staff, but room upkeep needs more consistency. a mid-range 4-star business hotel in East Jakarta, scored for what it is.

Harper MT Haryono is a mid-range 4-star business hotel in Cawang, best considered for East Jakarta work trips and onward travel rather than sightseeing on foot. We'd shortlist it for helpful staff, generally spacious rooms and convenient LRT access. Tripadvisor and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the service and breakfast, while the outdoor pool adds something beyond a straightforward overnight stop.

The catch is inconsistent upkeep. Despite excellent Google and Tripadvisor averages, Booking.com and Expedia give a more restrained picture. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests report worn fittings, air-conditioning problems and uneven bathroom or linen cleanliness; cigarette smells also recur. These aren't everyone's experience, but they're worth weighing. Request a non-smoking room and check it promptly. We'd skip it if spotless bathrooms, reliable room condition or a central sightseeing location are priorities.

  • Best for: East Jakarta business trips; Short stays near Halim transport connections; Travelers prioritizing helpful staff

  • Watch out for: Uneven room maintenance and cleanliness; Cigarette smells in some rooms and corridors; Gym and spa availability needs confirmation

  • Location: Convenient for Cawang LRT and East Jakarta connections; less compelling for sightseeing on foot.

  • Rooms: Often praised for space, but recent guests flag worn fittings, air-conditioning faults and smoke smells.

  • Cleanliness: Many positive reports, alongside repeated recent complaints about bathrooms, towels and linen.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the clearest recurring strength across review sites.

  • Amenities: Outdoor and children's pools plus a restaurant; gym and spa listings conflict, so confirm availability.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists free self-parking; check whether breakfast is included in your room booking.
