7.4/10
A practical Riverwalk base with friendly staff, but uneven rooms and renovation uncertainty.
Southbank is a full-service mid-range conference hotel, part of Marriott’s Delta brand, rather than a polished waterfront retreat. It’s a good pick for a short business or event stay: Riverwalk access, an outdoor pool, a gym and on-site dining cover the essentials. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and comfortable beds, and several July 2026 reviews welcome the refreshed lobby.
The catch is consistency. Alongside many clean-room reports, guests across sites describe tired finishes, musty smells and occasional housekeeping misses. The 2026 renovation focuses mainly on public spaces, with some room updates; July guests still mentioned work underway, and completion remains unconfirmed. Parking costs extra. We’d skip it for a special-occasion getaway or if reliably fresh rooms matter more than location.

Best for: conference and business travelers; short downtown stays; travelers who enjoy Riverwalk strolls
Watch out for: uneven room condition and housekeeping; renovation completion unconfirmed; paid parking
Location: Steps from the Southbank Riverwalk; downtown venues are across the river.
Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise, but dated finishes and musty smells recur.
Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms; housekeeping and bathroom complaints prevent a stronger endorsement.
Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a recurring strength, despite some check-in complaints.
Amenities: Outdoor courtyard pool, 24-hour gym, restaurants, bar and extensive meeting space.
Fees and surprises: Self-parking and valet cost extra; confirm remaining renovation work before booking.
