Axel's take: 8.4/10
A fun Jackson base with strong shared spaces, but motor-lodge rather than luxury comforts. A refreshed, mid-range motor lodge with a lively courtyard, scored for what it is.
The Virginian is a refreshed, mid-range motor lodge, not a conventional luxury four-star hotel. It's a strong pick for travelers who want somewhere sociable to unwind after exploring Jackson and Grand Teton. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff and the courtyard's pool, hot tubs, fire pits and evening s'mores. On-site dining and the saloon make staying in easy, while free parking suits a driving trip.
The trade-offs are the motel layout and uneven sound insulation: recent guests mention hearing neighbors and people outside their rooms, and the pool can be lively with families. You're also outside the Town Square core. Factor in the nightly resort fee, paid breakfast and housekeeping by request. We'd skip it for a quiet, full-service luxury escape; families and sociable road-trippers are its better audience.
