Axel's take: 7.6/10

Friendly staff and a prime location outweigh dated rooms, but construction complicates the stay. An older full-service downtown hotel beside Monument Circle, scored for what it is.

This older, full-service downtown Sheraton is a good pick for travelers who prioritize walkability over fresh interiors. Monument Circle is the draw, with restaurants and downtown attractions close by. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; Tripadvisor guests also single out the service. The seasonal rooftop pool adds appeal, especially for its monument views.

The trade-offs are dated rooms and renovation disruption. Marriott says the parking garage remains closed for construction, leaving paid valet as the hotel's parking option; daytime construction noise appears in guest feedback. A phased renovation and planned Renaissance conversion are not finished improvements to count on yet. We'd choose it for a practical downtown stay, but skip it if polished surroundings, easy self-parking or undisturbed daytime rest matter most.

• Best for: Downtown sightseeing without a car; Business travelers prioritizing location; Summer visitors wanting a rooftop pool

• Watch out for: Parking garage closed; paid valet only; Construction disruption and possible daytime noise; Dated rooms; rooftop pool is seasonal

• Location: Beside Monument Circle, with restaurants and downtown attractions within walking distance.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable, with appealing monument-view options, but recurring comments about dated interiors.

• Cleanliness: Recent Expedia feedback is predominantly positive about room cleanliness.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across Expedia and Tripadvisor.

• Amenities: Seasonal outdoor rooftop pool, fitness center, restaurants and a coffee shop serving Starbucks coffee.

• Fees and surprises: Paid valet while the garage is closed; phased renovation and a planned Renaissance rebrand warrant checking disruption before arrival.
