Axel's take: 8.7/10

Spacious canal-side suites and helpful staff make this a strong pick, despite parking hassles. a 3-star all-suite hotel on Indianapolis’s Canal Walk, scored for what it is.

This 3-star all-suite hotel on the Canal Walk is a strong pick for families and longer stays, with in-room kitchens, free hot breakfast and an indoor pool. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise spacious, clean rooms and genuinely helpful staff, including support for families visiting nearby hospitals. The preserved church architecture gives it more character than a typical extended-stay chain hotel.

Parking is the clearest drawback: guests across sites report steep charges and garage frustrations, while Hilton currently lists valet parking only, despite booking sites still advertising self-parking. Confirm arrangements before driving in. Convention groups can also bring nighttime noise and crowded breakfasts. We'd choose it for space, practical amenities and campus access; we'd skip it if free parking or being right beside downtown's main event venues matters most.

• Best for: families wanting kitchen-equipped suites; university and hospital visitors; longer stays near downtown

• Watch out for: costly parking and conflicting self-parking listings; group noise during conventions; a walk to the main event venues

• Location: Direct Canal Walk access, across from the university campus; downtown venues require a walk.

• Rooms: Spacious kitchen-equipped suites; some offer balconies and canal views.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent feedback, supported by strong cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Repeated praise for welcoming front-desk staff and accommodating hospital visitors.

• Amenities: Free hot breakfast and Wi-Fi, indoor pool, fitness center and Wednesday evening reception.

• Fees and surprises: Paid valet; Hilton lists no self-parking, contrary to booking sites. Pet fees apply.
