Axel's take: 8.0/10

A strong downtown base if location matters more than room size. A practical 4-star downtown business hotel in a historic building, scored for what it is.

Club Quarters is a practical 4-star business hotel in a historic downtown building, not a luxury escape. We'd pick it for a short work trip or Astros weekend: METRORail is close, and Daikin Park and downtown restaurants are walkable. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable stays. Complimentary coffee and water-refill stations are useful extras rather than flashy amenities.

The main compromise is space. Small rooms recur across reviews, and some Tripadvisor guests describe dated furnishings and maintenance shortcomings behind the handsome public areas. The overall feedback remains positive, but we'd book for convenience rather than four-star polish. Parking and breakfast cost extra. Skip it if you want a spacious room for lounging or a hotel that feels like the destination.

• Best for: Short downtown business trips; Astros weekends; Solo travelers prioritizing location

• Watch out for: Compact rooms; Some dated furnishings and maintenance complaints; Parking and breakfast cost extra

• Location: Close to METRORail, restaurants and Daikin Park; convenient for exploring downtown without a car.

• Rooms: Functional and often compact; selected higher room categories include kitchenettes.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised, supported by solid cleanliness scores on Booking.com and Expedia.

• Service: Helpful front-desk staff are a recurring strength, although not every guest reports consistent service.

• Amenities: A 24-hour gym, Table 7 Bistro, free Wi-Fi, coffee and water-refill stations cover the practical basics.

• Fees and surprises: Valet parking and breakfast are additional charges; early check-in and late checkout may also cost extra.
