Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong downtown base with welcoming staff, but facade work complicates the stay. a polished mid-range hotel in a historic downtown skyscraper, scored for what it is.

Cambria is a polished mid-range hotel in a historic Art Deco skyscraper, and a strong pick for Astros games or downtown business. Daikin Park is a few blocks away, with the convention center within walking distance. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, comfortable beds and spacious, generally clean rooms. The Rig restaurant and bar give it more convenience than a basic limited-service hotel.

The main catch is ongoing facade restoration. Recent guests describe anything from negligible disruption to intrusive morning construction noise; the registered project lists completion for June 2027. Ask about work affecting your room before booking. Parking draws repeated complaints about cost, breakfast is extra, and there’s no pool. We'd choose it for location and comfort, but skip it if quiet mornings or pool time are essential.

• Best for: Astros fans; downtown business travelers; car-free city breaks

• Watch out for: Ongoing facade restoration and possible morning noise; Costly parking and extra-charge breakfast; No swimming pool

• Location: A few blocks from Daikin Park; walkable to the convention center and downtown rail stops.

• Rooms: Guests generally praise spacious rooms, comfortable beds and modern interiors.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across sites; isolated lapses do not outweigh the positive pattern.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk and valet staff are recurring strengths.

• Amenities: The Rig restaurant and bar, fitness center and free Wi-Fi; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking cost extra; facade restoration has a registered completion date of June 1, 2027, not a guaranteed finish.
