7.8/10
A good-value Hobart base for drivers, with clean rooms but dated interiors.
Hobart Tower Motel is a no-frills 3-star in New Town: a practical base rather than a hotel to linger in. We'd pick it for a budget-conscious stay, especially with a car. Recent Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, helpful staff and comfortable beds; free parking adds to the value. The historic tower, accessible from reception, gives this otherwise simple motel a little character.
The trade-off is age: rooms remain dated despite some guest-reported refreshing, and several Booking.com reviewers mention cramped showers. Room sizes and layouts vary, so check the category carefully. It's outside central Hobart, though guests report useful nearby buses. Arrange arrivals after 6 p.m. in advance, and request ground-floor accommodation if stairs are an issue—there's no lift. We'd skip it for contemporary interiors or a doorstep waterfront location.
