#6 of 9 hotels in Tan Son Nhat Airport & Phu Nhuan by Axel's take. Tan Son Nhat Airport & Phu Nhuan is #6 of 6 places to stay in Ho Chi Minh City. The best hotels in Tan Son Nhat Airport & Phu Nhuan, ranked · Where to stay in Ho Chi Minh City
Axel's take: 7.6/10
A practical airport stop with good breakfast, but rooms need choosing carefully. an older 4-star airport-area hotel with two wings, scored for what it is.
First Hotel is an older 4-star near Tan Son Nhat Airport, better suited to a stopover or local business trip than a sightseeing holiday. It's a good pick if you value practical comfort over contemporary design. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and the breakfast buffet; the pool adds appeal for longer stays.
The trade-off is uneven room condition: recent guests still describe dated interiors, and the two wings don't offer an identical experience. Confirm your wing and room category rather than relying on the smartest photos. From some rooms, reaching the pool means crossing the street, and guests report Monday pool closures. Central sights require a drive. We'd skip it for polished four-star surroundings or sightseeing on foot, and reconfirm airport pickup before arrival.
-
Best for: airport stopovers; business travelers in Tan Binh; travelers prioritizing breakfast and practical comfort
-
Watch out for: dated rooms and differences between wings; street crossing to the pool from some rooms; driving required for central sightseeing
-
Location: Convenient for the airport and Tan Binh exhibition venues; roughly six kilometers from District 1's main sights.
-
Rooms: Comfort and condition vary between wings; confirm the exact room category and building.
-
Cleanliness: Recent feedback is predominantly positive, including from guests who criticize the dated interiors.
-
Service: Helpful staff draw repeated praise, though pickup communication and check-in receive some criticism.
-
Amenities: Breakfast buffet, outdoor pool, gym and restaurants; guests report Monday pool closures, so confirm the schedule.
-
Fees and surprises: Confirm transfer and pool inclusions for your booking; early check-in, late checkout and extra beds can incur charges.
