Axel's take: 8.7/10

Strong service and comfortable rooms make this a dependable central Hanoi choice. a five-star business hotel in central Hanoi, scored for what it is.

Meliá Hanoi is a five-star business hotel we'd choose for dependable comfort rather than boutique character. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds and helpful staff, while Tripadvisor reviews repeatedly single out the extensive breakfast and The Level lounge team. Standard rooms start at a practical 32 square metres, and the outdoor pool, well-equipped gym and restaurants make it a strong base for mixing sightseeing with work.

The trade-off is a large conference-hotel atmosphere: events can make public areas busy, and you're outside the Old Quarter's immediate bustle rather than immersed in it. Some recent Expedia guests also describe bathrooms as dated or compact, so don't expect every detail to feel cutting-edge. We'd skip it for intimate Hanoi character, but recommend it for polished service and reliable facilities.

• Best for: business travelers; sightseers wanting full-service comfort; travelers considering The Level lounge

• Watch out for: busy public areas during conferences; some dated or compact bathrooms; outside the Old Quarter's core

• Location: Central, within walking distance of Hoan Kiem Lake and major sights, but outside the Old Quarter's core.

• Rooms: Standard rooms are 32 square metres; comfort earns strong praise, though some bathrooms show their age.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest sites, with particularly strong Booking.com and Expedia cleanliness scores.

• Service: Friendly, professional staff are repeatedly praised; The Level lounge team attracts especially enthusiastic feedback.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, well-equipped gym, partner-operated spa, two restaurants and a bar; no confirmed indoor pool.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast and lounge inclusions; transfers cost extra. An April 2026 guest reported roadworks outside, but current status is unconfirmed.
