Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong central base if you can live with compact, stripped-back rooms. a design-led, limited-service 3-star in central Frankfurt, scored for what it is.

Moxy Frankfurt City Center is a design-led, limited-service 3-star whose biggest asset is its location: Zeil shopping, restaurants and Hauptwache transport are close by. It's a strong pick for a short city break rather than a hotel-centered holiday. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise cleanliness and helpful staff, while the bar doubles as reception and gives the lobby a sociable feel.

The compromise is upstairs. Standard rooms are compact, with limited storage and no kettle; Tripadvisor and Trip.com guests also mention sparse furnishings and dim lighting. Breakfast generally earns good feedback, but check whether your booking includes it, and allow for parking charges. We'd choose it for sightseeing with light luggage and skip it for a longer stay if generous room space and traditional in-room comforts matter.

• Best for: short sightseeing breaks; shopping-focused travelers; couples and solo travelers packing light

• Watch out for: compact rooms with limited storage; no in-room kettle and some dim lighting; breakfast and parking can cost extra

• Location: Excellent for Zeil shopping, walkable sightseeing and nearby Hauptwache connections.

• Rooms: Compact, minimalist standard rooms; limited storage and recurring comments about dim lighting.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent feedback, supported by strong Booking.com and Expedia cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Recent reviews mostly praise friendly, helpful staff; check-in takes place at the bar.

• Amenities: Social lobby, games, 24-hour bar and grab-and-go snacks rather than extensive full-service facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and pets carry charges; breakfast is not automatically included. Marriott says there is no EV charging.
