#7 of 7 hotels in Sachsenhausen by Axel's take. Sachsenhausen is #2 of 7 places to stay in Frankfurt. The best hotels in Sachsenhausen, ranked · Where to stay in Frankfurt

Axel's take: 7.0/10

Good budget positioning, but dated rooms and nightlife noise limit the appeal. a no-frills budget hotel in Frankfurt’s Sachsenhausen nightlife district, scored for what it is.

Primus is a no-frills budget hotel in Sachsenhausen, best treated as a convenient base rather than somewhere to linger. We’d consider it for a short, inexpensive city break: the Main, museums and old town are within walking distance, with trams nearby. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean rooms, while Booking.com’s ratings put location and value ahead of comfort and facilities.

The trade-offs are tired furnishings, small bathrooms and noise from the surrounding nightlife and transport. Cleanliness generally fares better than the building’s condition, but don’t expect polished upkeep. Confirm breakfast before booking: despite the hotel advertising a buffet, guests have reported it unavailable, including a May 2026 breakfast-room renovation. We’d skip it for a quiet weekend retreat or if modern rooms matter more than location and budget.

Best for: budget-minded city breakers; Sachsenhausen nightlife visitors; short sightseeing stays
Watch out for: nightlife and tram noise; dated rooms and small bathrooms; breakfast availability needs confirmation
Location: Near the Main and Sachsenhausen’s bars, with walkable sights and convenient tram connections.
Rooms: Simple, often compact and dated; some single rooms have a private bathroom outside the room.
Cleanliness: Many recent guests report clean rooms, though upkeep is less consistent.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn recurring praise; confirm arrangements for late arrivals.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi and a lift are listed; breakfast availability and reception hours need checking.
Fees and surprises: Limited parking costs extra and cannot be reserved; airport transfers and breakfast carry additional charges.
