Axel's take: 8.0/10

Comfortable airport sleep, but transfers take more planning than the name suggests. a practical 4-star airport hotel in Gateway Gardens, scored for what it is.

This practical 4-star in Gateway Gardens is a strong pick for an overnight stop, rather than a Frankfurt holiday. Booking.com and Expedia guests broadly praise cleanliness and comfortable beds, while recent Expedia reviews repeatedly compliment breakfast and helpful staff. The restaurant, bar and 24-hour gym cover the essentials without making this anything more elaborate than a comfortable airport base.

The catch is reaching your flight: IHG confirms there is no airport shuttle, despite older listings suggesting otherwise. Gateway Gardens station is a short walk away, but allow time for your terminal transfer. Terminal 2 closed for refurbishment on June 9, 2026, so old advice about walking there is outdated. Some recent Tripadvisor guests also describe impersonal self-check-in and difficulty finding staff. We'd skip it for seamless terminal access or a sightseeing-focused stay.

• Best for: overnight flight connections; Gateway Gardens business trips; travelers comfortable using the S-Bahn

• Watch out for: no airport shuttle; Terminal 2 closed for refurbishment; self-check-in and uneven front-desk availability

• Location: Near Gateway Gardens S-Bahn, but not connected directly to an operating passenger terminal.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and generally quiet rooms; standard rooms are functional rather than spacious.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Often praised on Expedia, though Tripadvisor reports include impersonal check-in and absent desk staff.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar, free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour gym; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Paid, limited parking; breakfast is not included with every booking; no airport shuttle.
