#6 of 7 hotels in Springfield Gateway by Axel's take. Springfield Gateway is #5 of 6 places to stay in Eugene. The best hotels in Springfield Gateway, ranked · Where to stay in Eugene

Axel's take: 6.8/10

Friendly staff and useful basics, but ongoing renovations make this a qualified pick. a no-frills budget hotel off I-5 in Springfield, scored for what it is.

This no-frills budget hotel off I-5 in Springfield is a practical overnight stop, not a destination stay. Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and often surprisingly quiet rooms. Free breakfast and parking add value, and nearby restaurants make a short stay straightforward. We'd consider it for a road-trip stop if the room is fully finished.

The catch is a full renovation: management confirmed it in June 2026, and guests still reported construction in September. Complaints across sites describe missing furniture, construction noise and disrupted housekeeping; other guests praise refreshed rooms. Cleanliness is generally better received, but not consistent enough to ignore. The outdoor pool is seasonal, with a September guest reporting it already closed. We'd skip it for a restful longer stay until the hotel confirms which work and facilities affect your dates.

  • Best for: road-trippers needing an overnight stop; budget travelers with a car

  • Watch out for: renovation work reported through September 2026; some rooms lack furniture during upgrades; seasonal outdoor pool

  • Location: Off I-5 in Springfield, near restaurants and Gateway shopping; better suited to drivers than downtown sightseeing.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise, but renovated and unfinished rooms currently deliver different experiences.

  • Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms; recent housekeeping lapses keep consistency in question.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the strongest recurring positive across review sites.

  • Amenities: Breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking are included; the outdoor pool is seasonal, not year-round.

  • Fees and surprises: Pets carry an additional charge; confirm renovation disruption, room furnishings and pool availability before booking.
