#1 of 4 hotels in University of Oregon by Axel's take. University of Oregon is #2 of 6 places to stay in Eugene. The best hotels in University of Oregon, ranked · Where to stay in Eugene

Axel's take: 8.6/10

A dependable campus base with useful extras and a few minor rough edges. a limited-service chain hotel beside the University of Oregon, scored for what it is.

This limited-service chain hotel is a strong pick for University of Oregon visits and events at Matthew Knight Arena. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff and the included hot breakfast. It delivers the practical comforts that matter at this level rather than boutique character. Free parking, an indoor pool and a hot tub strengthen the package for families.

The trade-offs are modest: some guests mention hallway noise, and individual recent reviews flag worn shower caulking, carpets or mattresses rather than a broader cleanliness problem. Breakfast seating can also get tight. Despite “Downtown” in the name, think campus base rather than downtown doorstep. We'd choose it for a straightforward university trip, but skip it for distinctive design or full-service dining.

  • Best for: University of Oregon visitors; Arena and sports-event trips; Families wanting breakfast and a pool

  • Watch out for: Occasional hallway noise; Some minor room wear; Breakfast seating can fill up

  • Location: Convenient for campus and Matthew Knight Arena; better understood as East University than downtown.

  • Rooms: Generally comfortable and practical, with occasional reports of worn bathroom finishes or bedding.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback, despite isolated carpet-cleaning concerns.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff receive repeated praise across review sites.

  • Amenities: Included hot breakfast, indoor pool, hot tub, gym and Wi-Fi; no on-site restaurant.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is complimentary, with one permit per room; no complimentary shuttle and no pets.
