#8 of 9 hotels in Downtown & 5th Street Market by Axel's take. Downtown & 5th Street Market is #1 of 6 places to stay in Eugene. The best hotels in Downtown & 5th Street Market, ranked · Where to stay in Eugene

Axel's take: 7.7/10

A practical downtown budget base, with friendly staff but some tired edges. a budget 2-star motor inn in downtown Eugene, scored for what it is.

Campus Inn & Suites is an older, budget motor inn whose strongest selling point is its walkable downtown location near the University of Oregon. We'd pick it for a short campus visit or straightforward overnight rather than a hotel-centered getaway. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and generally clean rooms. Free parking adds useful value, and rooms have refrigerators and coffee makers.

The trade-off is condition: dated furnishings and occasional bathroom maintenance problems keep it from being a standout, even for its class. Breakfast is a simple continental grab-and-go spread, not a substantial meal. Road noise can reach some rooms; requesting one toward the back is sensible. The hotel's website currently lists the outdoor hot tub as temporarily closed. We'd skip it if you want polished interiors, a substantial breakfast or a dependable soak.

Best for: budget-conscious campus visitors; short downtown stays; travelers needing free parking
Watch out for: outdoor hot tub temporarily closed; dated interiors and occasional maintenance issues; road noise in some rooms
Location: Walkable to downtown restaurants and the university; Whole Foods is across the street.
Rooms: Comfortable beds and useful basics, but dated finishes and some bathroom maintenance complaints.
Cleanliness: Generally praised in recent reviews, though occasional bathroom-cleaning lapses appear.
Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are a recurring strength across review sites.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, continental breakfast, fitness center and terrace; outdoor hot tub temporarily closed.
Fees and surprises: Parking is free; dogs incur fees, and Expedia lists a pet deposit and size restrictions.
