Axel's take: 6.6/10

Useful south-side parking and helpful staff, but housekeeping is too inconsistent for an easy recommendation. a basic 3-star Wyndham chain hotel on Edmonton’s south side, scored for what it is.

Ramada Edmonton South is a basic 3-star Wyndham hotel best approached as a practical overnight stop, not a polished city base. Free parking, including space for larger vehicles, is a genuine advantage. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests regularly praise helpful staff, and many report spacious, comfortable rooms. We'd consider it for a short south-side visit with a car.

The sticking point is consistency: reviews across both sites describe worn carpets, unpleasant odors and missed cleaning, alongside plenty of satisfactory stays. That makes it harder to recommend even by budget-hotel standards. Breakfast costs extra, and Expedia also lists a nightly resort fee; Booking.com requires a refundable damage deposit. We'd skip it if dependable housekeeping or a fresh-feeling room matters more than parking and location.

• Best for: budget-conscious drivers; short south-side visits; travelers with larger vehicles

• Watch out for: uneven housekeeping and room odors; worn carpets and maintenance issues; breakfast and mandatory fee extras

• Location: Practical for south-side driving trips; Southgate LRT is roughly a half-hour walk away.

• Rooms: Often described as spacious and comfortable, but wear and maintenance problems recur.

• Cleanliness: Many clean-room reports, but repeated complaints about odors, bedding and missed cleaning undermine confidence.

• Service: Helpful front-desk staff are a recurring strength, though problem handling is less consistent.

• Amenities: Free parking and Wi-Fi, a gym, guest laundry and Chowkeni Restaurant; breakfast is extra.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a nightly resort fee and pet charges; Booking.com lists a refundable credit-card damage deposit.
