Axel's take: 7.4/10

Worth choosing for mall convenience and themed-room fun, not polished comfort. A mid-range family hotel inside West Edmonton Mall, with themed and conventional rooms, scored for what it is.

Fantasyland is a mid-range family hotel inside West Edmonton Mall, and that connection is its strongest selling point: shopping, meals and attraction breaks require no driving. We'd choose it for a mall-focused family trip, particularly if the kids are excited about a themed room. Recent Expedia guests praise comfortable rooms and friendly staff, while Tripadvisor guests repeatedly appreciate the easy access to activities.

You're paying for convenience and novelty rather than consistently polished accommodation. Recent feedback includes recurring elevator waits, noise transfer and uneven room maintenance; cleanliness earns plenty of praise but also some meaningful complaints. The elaborate decor doesn't guarantee better hotel basics. Breakfast is extra, and World Waterpark is a mall attraction, not an included hotel pool—check your booking's admission inclusions. We'd skip it for a quiet getaway or if the mall isn't central to your plans.

• Best for: Families planning several mall activities; Kids excited about themed rooms; Shoppers wanting indoor mall access

• Watch out for: Elevator waits and noise transfer; Uneven room upkeep and housekeeping; Waterpark admission not automatically included

• Location: Inside West Edmonton Mall, with direct indoor access to shopping, dining and attractions.

• Rooms: Conventional and themed choices; condition varies, with recurring maintenance and soundproofing complaints.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive Expedia feedback, balanced by recent housekeeping complaints on Tripadvisor and Reddit.

• Service: Friendly, accommodating staff are a frequent strength, though problem resolution is not uniformly praised.

• Amenities: Restaurants, room service and free Wi-Fi; complimentary gym access is in the mall, not the hotel.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking is free; breakfast, valet and EV charging cost extra. Confirm attraction admissions separately.
