Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong luxury city base, with standout service but some room-location caveats. a five-star city hotel just off Dublin’s Grafton Street, scored for what it is.

The Westbury is a five-star city hotel just off Grafton Street, and a strong pick for exploring Dublin on foot without sacrificing attentive service. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, clean rooms and comfortable surroundings; Booking.com’s strongest marks likewise go to location, staff and cleanliness. WILDE, The Sidecar and afternoon tea in The Gallery give it appeal beyond simply having somewhere comfortable to sleep.

The caveats matter at this level. A recent Tripadvisor guest reports disruptive late-night pub noise in a front-facing room, so light sleepers should request a quieter position. Check room dimensions rather than assuming every category is spacious. The hotel also says its fitness suite is closed for upgrading until November 2026. We'd choose it for shopping, sightseeing and a celebratory city break, but skip it if an on-site gym is essential right now.

• Best for: luxury sightseeing breaks; shopping around Grafton Street; couples celebrating an occasion

• Watch out for: fitness suite closed until November 2026; possible pub noise in front-facing rooms; room sizes vary by category

• Location: Excellent walking base beside Grafton Street, near Trinity College and St Stephen’s Green.

• Rooms: Comfort earns strong praise; check category dimensions and request a quieter room position.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com scores and recent Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are the clearest recurring highlight across guest-review sites.

• Amenities: WILDE, Balfes, The Sidecar and afternoon tea; fitness suite closed for upgrading until November 2026.

• Fees and surprises: Valet parking and EV charging cost extra; confirm the gym’s reopening before relying on it.
