#5 of 9 hotels in Temple Bar by Axel's take. Temple Bar is #3 of 11 places to stay in Dublin. The best hotels in Temple Bar, ranked · Where to stay in Dublin

Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong central Dublin base, with helpful staff and a few room-dependent compromises. A characterful 4-star city-centre hotel beside Trinity College, scored for what it is.

The Trinity City Hotel is a characterful four-star on Pearse Street, and we'd put it firmly on the shortlist for exploring Dublin on foot. Its ornate interiors give it more personality than a standard business hotel, while Trinity College, Grafton Street and Temple Bar are close by. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms; the bar and courtyard add somewhere appealing to unwind.

The main caveat is room choice: some bedrooms feel compact, and the neighbouring working fire station bothers some guests, though many report quiet nights. Breakfast can get crowded. The gym and pool are at Trinity College rather than inside the hotel, with access restricted to adults. It's a strong sightseeing base; we'd look elsewhere if guaranteed quiet or on-site leisure facilities are priorities.

  • Best for: First-time Dublin visitors; Couples on sightseeing breaks; Travelers exploring without a car

  • Watch out for: Room-dependent fire-station noise; Some compact bedrooms; Crowded breakfast periods

  • Location: Excellent for walking to Trinity College, shopping and Temple Bar; guests also praise nearby airport-bus access.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds earn consistent praise, but room sizes vary; confirm the category if space matters.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across sites, despite occasional housekeeping lapses.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception and concierge teams are recurring strengths.

  • Amenities: Restaurant, bar, courtyard and free Wi-Fi; gym and pool access is off-site at Trinity College, for ages 18 and over.

  • Fees and surprises: Valet parking costs extra; check whether breakfast is included, and note that late checkout carries a fee.
