Axel's take: 8.6/10

A welcoming Dublin base with strong service, but check room cooling before booking. a family-run 4-star in a residential neighborhood beside Aviva Stadium, scored for what it is.

The Sandymount is a family-run 4-star that makes more sense for Aviva Stadium visits and neighborhood stays than doorstep city-center sightseeing. We'd choose it for its consistently praised staff, clean rooms and easy access to Lansdowne Road DART station. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly highlight comfortable beds, helpful service and good breakfasts. Complimentary parking is another useful advantage, though spaces aren't guaranteed.

The main catch is room temperature: Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly report hot bedrooms without air conditioning, so confirm cooling for your specific room. The hotel acknowledges that its interconnected Victorian houses mean room sizes and layouts vary. Lift-replacement works were recorded as starting in January 2026; completion wasn't confirmed in the available evidence, so check access and disruption before booking. We'd skip it if reliable cooling or walking straight into central Dublin nightlife matters most.

• Best for: Aviva Stadium eventgoers; Drivers who can leave the car and use DART; Travelers preferring a residential neighborhood

• Watch out for: Air conditioning is not assured; Parking fills on major event dates; Confirm lift-work completion and access

• Location: Beside Aviva Stadium, roughly five minutes from Lansdowne Road DART; not a city-center address.

• Rooms: Comfort gets strong feedback, but layouts vary and overheating is a recurring complaint.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are among the most consistently praised features.

• Amenities: Bar dining, breakfast, garden terrace, free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour fitness room.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is complimentary but first-come; check breakfast inclusion and the status of lift-replacement works.
