Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong concert-night choice with spacious rooms, but not a doorstep-to-everything Dublin base. a modern 4-star Docklands hotel opposite the 3Arena, scored for what it is.

The Gibson is a modern 4-star in Dublin’s Docklands, and we'd pick it for a 3Arena show or a comfortable stay with easy tram access. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the spacious rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff; cleanliness is another clear strength. Standard doubles are a generous 28 square metres, according to the hotel. The Luas stop outside makes the location practical even when your plans extend beyond the arena.

The compromise is being outside Dublin’s historic sightseeing core: choose somewhere more central if you want to walk straight into its pubs and attractions. Guests also flag expensive parking and food, while some report warm rooms or noisy air-conditioning. Those complaints don't outweigh the broadly positive picture, but parking charges deserve budgeting for. This is a convincing event base rather than a characterful city-centre escape.

• Best for: 3Arena concertgoers; Docklands business travelers; Travelers who prefer spacious rooms and tram access

• Watch out for: Outside the historic sightseeing core; Paid parking and pricey hotel dining; Some reports of warm rooms or noisy air-conditioning

• Location: Opposite the 3Arena, with the Luas outside; less convenient for exploring the historic centre entirely on foot.

• Rooms: Standard doubles measure 28 square metres; guests generally praise space and beds, with some temperature-control complaints.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across booking sites; isolated housekeeping misses do not dominate the evidence.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength across Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar, free Wi-Fi and 24-hour gym; the hotel also lists a sauna, steam room and outdoor copper baths.

• Fees and surprises: Underground parking is separately operated and chargeable; breakfast inclusion depends on the booking.
