Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong sightseeing base with standout staff, but choose your room carefully. a historic 5-star city hotel opposite Trinity College, scored for what it is.

The College Green is a historic 5-star city hotel, formerly the Westin and now part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. It’s a strong pick for exploring Dublin on foot: Trinity College is opposite, with Temple Bar and Grafton Street close by. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise the welcoming staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. The Mint Bar, housed in former bank vaults, adds character beyond the bedrooms.

The main compromise is room consistency: some are spacious, others tight or awkwardly shaped, and atrium-facing rooms lack an outside view. Check the category rather than assuming five stars guarantees space. The hotel currently advertises the Atrium Lounge’s refurbishment, with reopening planned for early November 2026; confirm arrangements if afternoon tea matters. Breakfast and valet parking can cost extra. We’d skip it if generous entry-level rooms or uninterrupted access to the signature lounge are priorities.

• Best for: first-time Dublin sightseers; couples who value attentive service; car-free city breaks

• Watch out for: variable room sizes and interior views; Atrium Lounge refurbishment; breakfast and valet parking may cost extra

• Location: Opposite Trinity College, close to Temple Bar, shopping and Luas stops; easiest without a car.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and well-appointed bathrooms, but layouts, space and views vary noticeably.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall praise across recent guest reviews; isolated odor complaints are not the dominant picture.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff—particularly concierge and door teams—are the most consistent strength.

• Amenities: Vault-set Mint Bar, fitness center and room service; Atrium Lounge reopening advertised for early November.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; valet parking is charged, and confirm Atrium availability before booking.
